Clerk's Responsibilities: (I.C. 36-4-10)

Include but is not limited to; recording and retention of City Council minutes, ordinances and resolutions; liaison for the members of City Council, providing packets for the monthly meetings, uploading documents to the website, posting notices of the meetings;

- Retention of City Records;
- Retention of Abatement records;
- Filing of Tort Claims;
- Take in Bond & Restitution Payments;
- Receiving Parking fines and depositing payments of fines;

Input Traffic Infractions and Ordinance Violations;
- Notary Services per Indiana Code (I.C. 33-42-9-4)
- The City Clerk’s office is a responsible for the physical receipt of bids and quotes for public projects.
Court Business
- Serves as the Clerk of Muncie City Court. This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing daily operation of the office, maintaining court records, balancing and reconciling daily receipts for deposit, preparing periodic reports detailing court collections and disbursements and preparing court expenditure and revenue reports for the Indiana State Court Administrator and State Board of Accounts;
- Collects and processes payments for court fines and costs;

- The Muncie City Clerk is required by Indiana Code to collect copy fees of $1.00 per page plus $3.00 per document if certification is required. To obtain court records complete the form City Court Records Request Form and send a cashiers check or money order to the Muncie City Clerk.
Bid Process
The bids must be submitted in the proper format to the City Clerk’s office 8:45 a.m. prior to the Board of Works meeting the day the bid is due. Information on the bid process can be found in the Community Development Link: Bids and RFP

Bureau of Motor Vehicles
The City Clerk's office can not provide information regarding personal driving records. We accept payment for parking and driving violations. If you need assistance with driving records or suspensions you can call the BMV Contact Center at 888-692-6841.
